Session Descriptions

Economic Update - Community banks face significant challenges in the current environment.  Short-term interest rates appear stuck at record lows and general market conditions are increasingly volatile.  Meanwhile, steady deposit growth combined with weak loan demand has increased the importance of the bond portfolio to overall profitability.  This presentation will focus on how bankers can manage balance sheets for optimal performance with specific emphasis on investments.

Legislative Update - For the past year, community banks have closely monitored the legislative fallout of the Dodd-Frank Act.  Now, many are wondering what comes next.  In this session, we’ll take a look at upcoming legislative challenges and proactive initiatives that will impact community banking in general and S corporation banks in particular.

M&A Marketplace Projections - While the United States economy has sputtered along over the past year, the M&A Marketplace has begun to show signs of movement.  This session will take a look at what you can expect in terms of M&A activity in the coming year.

M&A Strategies - Are you prepared to consider your M&A options?  For owners of S corporation financial institutions, M&A transactions come with their unique considerations.  A panel of experts will shed light on what you need to know before you consider buying or selling.

Regulatory Panel - Representatives from the OCC, the FDIC and the Federal Reserve Bank will be on hand to discuss their outlook for the regulatory environment, as well as to answer your questions.

Tax & Accounting Update - This session will provide a comprehensive review of relevant tax and accounting developments over the past year, including a discussion of issues IRS agents have raised with financial institutions.

Investment Strategies Panel - Is your bank’s investment portfolio best positioned for stability and growth in the continuing uncertainty of the US economy?  This panel will feature both banker and investment professional perspectives in helping your best asset liability management strategy.
