Bruce E. Toppin, III is an associate attorney with the law firm of Kennedy & Baris, LLP in its San Antonio, Texas office. Mr. Toppin’s practice focuses on representing financial institutions throughout the United States on a wide variety of corporate, securities and regulatory matters including mergers and acquisitions, holding company formations, de novo charters, regulatory compliance, and Subchapter S corporation elections.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Toppin worked for several years in the financial services industry, first for a community bank in Texas, and later for a multi-national financial institution.
Mr. Toppin also presently serves as the Executive Director of the Subchapter S Bank Association. He is a frequent speaker at the Association’s Annual Conference and regularly contributes articles to the quarterly newsletter, the Subchapter S Bank Report.
Mr. Toppin is a member of the American Bar Association Banking Law Committee where he serves on the Enforcement, Director Liability, and Troubled Banks and the New Members Subcommittees. He is also a member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association.
Mr. Toppin received his B.A. in Finance from Texas Tech University in 2001 and J.D. from the St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2007, where he served as a Comment Editor for the St. Mary’s Law Journal.
